The Shannon SRP also provides a qualitative report on a specific subject that was discussed widely during the year-end reporting period. Called Shannon Spotlights, these reports highlight how Shannon sites, partners, and LARPs have responded to specific challenges or issues in the past year.

2025 Qualitative Study

To gain a comprehensive understanding of how housing instability and homelessness impact Shannon youth, the Shannon SRP team developed a qualitative study consisting of a series of semi-structured interviews and survey data analysis. Interviews were conducted with staff from eleven Shannon partner organizations and two state agencies from January 8- April 22, 2025. Interviews were supplemented with survey data collected from 68 partner organizations. All fifteen Shannon sites participated in the study.

2022 Qualitative Study

The Statewide Research Partner (SRP) for Shannon CSI, used the 2022 Spotlight report to further understand the nature of police-youth relationships in the context of Shannon programming. In this pursuit, the research team conducted thirty-two virtual interviews with fifteen officers and seventeen youths from January 2023 – April 2023 with representation from eleven of the fifteen Shannon CSI-funded sites throughout Massachusetts.

2021 Qualitative Study

The Statewide Research Partner (SRP) for Shannon CSI used the 2021 Spotlight report to understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Shannon programming. In this pursuit, the research team conducted thirty-seven interviews with Shannon partner organizations from November 2021-March 2022 with representation from each of the Shannon CSI’s fifteen funded sites throughout Massachusetts.
